“Hey, guys!” came a whisper yell, as Tori Vega came sprinting into Karaoke Dokie. He pressed a reassuring kiss on the netting of her shirt, between her shoulder and her neck. She set her drink down on the table and watched the act on stage.īeck moved a little closer to Jade and wrapped his left arm around her waist. She moved her seat right in front of Beck and sat down, facing the stage. She’d rather let their performance throw these skanks than waste the soda she had just gotten refilled. Jade took a sip of her drink as the two girls walked away to their table on the other side of the stage. “Oh, and so are we,” André volunteered lamely. “So are we,” the brunette girl added with a glare. “Yeah, we’re singing tonight,” Cat said proudly. Her ringed fingers tightened on the glass. “Well, we didn’t come for the buffalo nuggets,” Jade said bitingly. “So… Hollywood Arts, you girls gonna sing tonight?” the brunette girl asked. He could probably start a countdown for when the soda in Jade’s hand got dumped all over the blonde girl. “You know, you might wanna be shutting your face there,” Jade snarked.Ĭat bit her lips to keep herself from laughing out loud.Īndré made another lame pass at changing the subject, which Beck didn’t even bother with anymore.īeck watched Jade’s icy cold stare. “Ohhh, Hollywood Arts, the school for,” she paused and turned back to Jade, “wannabes.” The brunette girl saw the HA on André’s chest. “Heyyy, check out dude’s jacket,” the blonde girl said, noting André in his Hollywood Arts ping pong jacket. “Yeah… how great is Japan?” Beck tried to keep up, crossing his arms both awkwardly and protectively over his chest. “Did you know…” André grappled for words, “…that karaoke comes to us from Japan?” “Okayyyy,” André and Beck both said loudly, trying to break up the tension. Jade tilted her head and moved her grip on her glass menacingly.
She came up a full three inches shorter than Jade in her wedges. “I don’t see much,” the other girl scoffed, getting up. The brunette girl turned, eyeing Jade from her shoes up to her blue-streaked hair.
“Turn around,” she said, planting her free hand on her hip. “He has a girlfriend.”īeck looked past her head as Jade stormed up with a soda in hand. “You have insane hair,” she said.īeck backed away from her hand.
The brunette girl reached for Beck’s hair. “That’s hot,” she said before André had finished saying his name.Ĭat looked really uncomfortable between the two girls. “What’s your name?” she asked, rubbing her hand up André’s arm. She had an objective, and boy, was she trying. “Seriously, I think he ate my charm bracelet.”īeck noticed the determined set in Cat’s jaw. Internally, she was face-palming, because she knew that was completely out of left field, but she kept going. “I get nervous when my brother eats things that aren’t food,” she blurted out. She started tracing Beck’s knuckles on the table.īeck pulled his hand back right away. “If you get nervous, I’ll hold your hand,” the girl offered. “You bet your brown hair we are,” André said. “Are you guys performing tonight?” the strange girl asked. “Um, yeah…”Ĭat caught his eye, as if she were coaxing him to do the right thing. “First time here?” she asked, trying to sound sultry and flirty, as she took his drink from his hand.īeck glanced around, trying to find Jade. The brunette one sat in Jade’s seat, right in front of Beck.
“Go get your own soda.” He took a sip of his. She got up and headed to the bar.īeck whacked the back of André’s head. “I’m gonna get another soda,” Jade said, waving her empty glass. The rest of the audience clapped along, as Robbie walked off the stage. “That was for my two ladies from Northridge, Cristy and Bella,” Rex said. Robbie’s friends all joined in as a show of support. There were some sincere cheers as Robbie finished his song. The crowd, however, didn’t know the whole story, so they were genuinely impressed with this act. Robbie was one of his friends, but that didn’t mean Beck naturally understood how Robbie reconciled this thing with Rex in his head. Unfortunately, Robbie did treat Rex like an entire other person, which made the whole thing just bizarre and sad on some level. If Robbie didn’t insist on Rex being an entire other person, Beck would have to give him props for such an elaborate ventriloquist act. Cat, André, Jade and Beck sat around their table, watching Robbie and Rex on stage.
